Hesston senior Jonathan Geidel has been selected as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Ty Rhodes, Hesston High Principal recognized Geidel’s acchievement at the pep rally on Friday afternoon. Rhodes had high praise for Geidel. “This is bigger than any sports team going to state,” he said during the assembly. Geidel is one of only 15,000 students in the nation to be selected as a Finalist. Geidel will go on for the opportunity to be one of 8,300 Merit Scholarship winners. “Jon has earned that position and those opportunities that come with it. He’s setting himself up for some great opportunities going into college. He’s been heavily involved in school in academics and activities and has done exceptional work through his career,” said Rhodes.
