HARVEY COUNTY – Many area residents had to take an alternate route on Monday when they discovered all lanes of traffic for I-135 were closed.
According to Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton, at around 7:45 p.m. Harvey County Communications received a call from a truck driver hauling goods for Hobby Lobby reporting he had gotten a call on his cell phone. The caller told the truck driver there was an explosive hooked to his truck.
The driver was somewhat confused to his location, believing he had just gotten off I-135 and was now on I-70.
“He called 911 and said to dispatch he didn’t know where he was. He thought he was on I-70 on the first call. Dispatch thought it was bizarre. If he was in Saline County and called 911, he would have gone to their dispatch,” said Walton.
The Harvey County dispatchers routed Highway Patrol to find the rig.
“They linked him to Highway Patrol, and that allowed him to figure out where he was,” said Walton.
