Susan Lamb is once again hosting the Lovin’ The Real H-Town camp this summer.

This is the fourth year for the camp, which is aimed at Hesston youth entering grades 6 and 7 in the fall.

Lamb said there has been consistent interest in the camp from year-to-year.

“Our greatest number of kids was 16.  We will work to accommodate as many as we have register, but they need to be signed up by June 15,” she said.

Youth participating in the camp must be members of the community, said Lamb.

“They must attend Hesston Middle School or have a Hesston address or connection to participate,” she said.

Lamb said the Lovin’ The Real H-Town camp gives youth a unique way to explore and engage with their community.

“Kids are interested in this community. Lovin' the Real H-Town gives them the opportunity to experience things that many Hesston residents don't even know about.  For example, part of our week consists of a complete tour of Excel.

“ Many adults in our community have not taken the time to do this, and it is really fascinating.  The kids seem to be looking for something new to do mid-summer, and the timing of the camp really fits that need,” she said.

Two Hesston residents, Michelle Rediger and Nicole Eickbush are hosting Dirty 30 fitness classes for adults and children this summer.

Eickbush’s first class for adults, a fitness boot camp, kicked off this month and is hosted at King Park Monday through Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m.  The same class is held Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at Rediger0 a.m.

“I did this in Texas for a while, but I decided I wanted to go bigger. I wanted to be outdoors. I’m really big on health and fitness,” said Eickbush.

Eickbush and she and Rediger came up with the idea for Dirty 30 Fitness after meeting at a Mom To Mom gathering.
