The Hesston Area Senior Center is opening its doors to pickers, players and strummers from across the community.
On Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. the Senior Center is hosting its first-ever Jam Session.
Organizer Jim Hartzler said he had the opportunity to take part in Jam Sessions while living on the East Coast and aims to bring the to Hesston.
“Over the years I’ve been part of jam sessions back east. They are a great, informal, gathering of people who play acoustic instruments. I want to share that experience,” he said.
Hartzler said the music selections will be spontaneous and the whole event is designed to bring together players and pickers of all ages and abilities.
“It’s just a chance to get people together that enjoy singing and playing gospel, bluegrass and old-time country music. It’s not a performance-type thing; it’s a gathering of people that enjoy music,” he said.
