After a record-breaking year, Hesston High senior Ryan Schadler has been selected to play in the Kansas Shrine Bowl for the West Team.
“I actually found out through Twitter. The day it was announced, Thursday, I saw a congratulations from the Wichita Eagle. A couple minutes later I got a text from Coach [Clint Rider] and tweets from people. It was exciting news. I was pretty overwhelmed. That’s something you dream of – watching TV and going to see it live,” said Schadler.
The 5’10, 170 pound running back said he has been playing football since he began school.
“I have been playing flag-football since Kindergarten and tackle since third grade. Never once have I thought about not playing. It’s what I’ve grown up doing. I started the moment I could,” he said.
Schadler said the time and dedication to the sport has paid off with the Shrine Bowl invitation.
