Serenading your sweetheart has long been a lover’s tradition.  However, if you are not musically inclined, the Hesston High Singers can deliver a Singing Valentines on Feb. 13 to your sweetheart.

According to Choir Director Jessica Harrison, Signing Valentines can be ordered for $20 through the Hesston Activities Office (620-327-7122).

Lovebirds must order the crooning crew soon, as the deadline is Feb. 12, or until slots are filled.

“The money goes toward our Kansas City trip,” said Harrison.

This year Harrison said the Singers can deliver about two-dozen Singing Valentines.

“I think we deliver around 25 or so. It all depends on how much driving is involved. We can fit in more if there are several in the same building,” she said.

Harrison said recipients will be in for a surprise, as the Singers will be choosing songs to perform this year.

“ I would rather not put out a song list.  I let the students pick which song we sing for each person. Often at least one student has a connection to who we are singing to. So they pick the song they think that person would enjoy the most,” she said.

Harrison said with many talented vocalists, some will have solo parts in different pieces of their repertoire.

“Several students will be featured as soloists throughout the day, so if we are singing to a relative of that student we sing the song they are featured in.”

The Singing Valentines will travel to locations in Hesston and Newton for delivery.
