This Saturday, Hesston residents will have the chance to take in a movie under the stars.  This Saturday’s movie, Disney’s latest hit, Moana, sponsored by Golden Plains Credit Union, will be on the box truck big screen at 606 Commerce Drive, south of BMG.

The movie will begin at dusk. Residents are encouraged to bring a canned good for admission to the film.

All canned goods and non-perishable items will be donated to the Hesston Resource Center.

Residents are welcome to bring coolers to the event. However, glass bottles, alcohol and pets are not allowed.

Hesston Women’s Civic Club will be selling sweet treats for movie-goers.

Hesston Chamber Director Becky Galloway said she was “extremely excited” about the first-time event.

“We had nearly 3,000 views when we posted on social media. So it looks like we have a whole lot of interest,” she said.

Galloway added she has been working with the new high definition projector to prevent any technical difficulties.

“It looks awesome and I really appreciate our sponsors for this,” she said.

Hesston Record Publisher Robb Reeves said community involvement beyond bringing readers the news was an important mission for the business.

“These quality movies are going to be a fun event for the town this summer. We are excited to be part of it and invite everyone to come out,” he said.

Galloway added Disney’s Moana, staring Dwayne Johnson, is currently one of the most popular movies in the U.S.

The animated family-friendly film was released in 2016 and is rated PG. Runtime is 1 hour, 47 minutes.
