Hesston Elementary School honored its students on the move this last semester during the SWAG program.

According to Hesston Elementary School Nurse Tammi Krehbiel, students logged 6,216.5 miles.

“We put this into perspective for the kids by telling them it would be similar to walking from Hesston to Orlando, FL then to Washington, D.C., on to New York City and from there to Los Angeles, CA and finally returning to Hesston,” said Krehbiel.

Every student participated in SWAG this year, as the Color Run in April was counted toward SWAG miles and participation.

This year, a new trophy was awarded to the class with the most miles walked.  Mrs. Harder’s fourth grade class took the trophy with students logging 789.25 miles.
