The Lions Club Rabies Clinic could not have come at a better time for the Erb family. Kamme Erb said last week two of her dogs found a skunk wandering the property during the day and attacked the animal.

“When you see [skunks] out in the daylight, that’s when there’s potential for them to be dangerous,” she said.

Erb said it was about 10 a.m. when she noticed her dogs attacking the skunk.  One of her pets bit the animal.

Erb said the skunk was shot and taken to Hesston Vet Clinic for rabies testing.

“The dogs had been previously vaccinated and we took them to get updates that day,” said Erb.

MOUNDRIDGE - The family of 19-year-old Skyler Price, a Moundridge High graduate, has set up a Go Fund Me account www.gofundme.com/funds-for-skyler to help with medical bills following a car accident on March 28.

Price was trapped inside his burning automobile after losing control of his vehicle near the intersection of NW 36th and Emma Creek Road.  Price was rescued from the vehicle and transported to St. Francis Medical Center in critical condition by Hesston Fire/EMS.

Price’s mother, Genell Kluss-Price, said Skyler himself was a volunteer firefighter. Ron Blaylock Moundridge Fire Chief, said Price, “was an Explorer when he was in high school, a junior firefighter.”

According to Kluss-Price, Skyler was just beginning to find his way into adulthood, renting a house in Moundridge with friend Coby Neufeld and was only three days into his new job at AAA Window Repair in Newton.

According to the company co-owner, Janice Tobisch, “He had only been with the company a week, but he seemed very excited to have the job. He was always ready and firing on all eight cylinders. If he can make a full recovery, he is welcome to come back once he’s all healed up.”

Kluss-Price said her son did not have health insurance, having recently been dropped from her policy and the insurance offered through his new job had not taken effect.
