Whitestone Serving Up Fellowship, Food Every Weddnesday

This year, Whitestone will be holding its Summer Fellowship from 5 to 6 p.m. at East View Gardens and serving a supper. MRS. Every Wednesday evening, Whitestone Mennonite Church is hosting a supper for community members at East View Gardens.  The dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. each Wednesday. 

Ron Moyo, the Outreach Pastor at the church, said the Summer Fellowship has been part of Whitestone’s mission work locally. 

The meals were previously served over the noon hour, but other food resources are serving during that time, and Moyo wanted to continue serving meals.

HAS Supplying Hesston With Source For Fresh Produce This Summer

THE Reimer family regularly attended the 2017 Farmers Market at HAS.  This year the market will be held every-other-week beginning June 19.THE Reimer family regularly attended the 2017 Farmers Market at HAS. This year the market will be held every-other-week beginning June 19.Hesstonians will once again have access to fresh produce thanks to the Common Grounds Mobile Farmers Market coming to the Hesston Area Senior Center in June. 

The market will kick off Tuesday, June 19, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and be held every other week through July 31.  

This is the second year for the farmers market, said HAS Director Marla Sharp. 

“They chose to come back, and we invited them. Their goal is to get fresh produce out to the community - primarily seniors, but it is open to everyone.  The fact that the grocery store has closed makes it more important that we have that available,” said Sharp.

Waters Edge Refreshes Hours, Menus

The Waters Edge will now be open to residents for breakfast and lunch six days a week - Monday through Saturday.  In addition to the new hours, new Thursday evening buffet options have been added.  The Waters Edge is also now offering a catering menu. 

Head Chef Tom Basore said the change comes at the request of Schowalter Villa residents and the larger Hesston community. 

“We think our more cohesive schedule is easier to remember, and that’s important for what we do here for residents and the public,” he said.
