Hesston golf coach Grady Pauls had a little chat with Grant Brenneman on the 18th tee box Monday at Spring Hill Golf Course in Seneca.

The junior had just double-bogeyed No. 17 after bogeying the previous hole. Brenneman then composed himself and knocked his tee shot down the middle of the fairway. He smoked a 4-iron and then stuck his approach shot from 112 feet out to within 3 feet of the cup.

Pauls said Brenneman “finished like a champion does” with a birdie on 18.

Pauls said he talked all day about staying in the moment, and Brenneman stayed calm, not knowing whether he might end up in a playoff.
